    Kolkata is the only city in the world that marginalize the Chinese community. The Chinese community in other parts of the world integrate into mainstream or have separate identity but still live in harmony without hindrance from their local Governments or Authorities.

    Kolkata is the only city in India that still have hand-pulled rickshaws that provide a hand-to-mouth job to many poor people to make a living. Interestingly, the rickshaws are introduced into the city by the Chinese when they landed into the city to mark their presence many years ago.

    Apart from these points, there are some other points as well:-

    1. Kolkata has the biggest Library in the country — The National Library, which has a collection more than 22,71,000 books and a grand collection of manuscripts, periodicals, journals and newspapers that cater to not only the demands of Kolkata’s intellectuals but beyond them also. It is one of the biggest in Asia in terms of its record number of collection of books.

    2. Kolkata has the biggets & the oldest zoological garden of India — The Alipoor Zoo.

    3. Kolkata, vbeing the Cultural Capital of India has the largest number of Publishing house in India, and by statistics, major perentage of books published per year in India comes from Kolkata.

    4. Not to forget the College Street, for it is the first & largest of its kind (collection of books – both new & old) across Asia.

    5. Most importantly now we are waiting for the East-West Metro Corridor which will include a Under-Water Metro Railway passage under the river Hooghly connecting MahaKaran with Howrah Station. This under-water Metro is no doubt first of its kind in India, but also 5th in the whole world, after London, LosAngeles, HongKong & Singapore.
