Bollywood’s first Hindi feature film in Tangra, Chinatown. Movie titled Tina Ki Chaabi, this film stars Ranvir Shorey and Sikkim’s model-turned-actor Geetanjali Thapa. In between her shots with Ranvir at Tangra, ChinaTown.
Amit says, “Tangra has a great character what with the dwindling kitchens being converted into restaurants. I do not want to show the clichéd Hooghly. I’ve shot in trams and will shoot in Tangra from Saturday.”
Incidentally, this is Ranvir’s first feature film shoot in the city. “I love Tangra’s Chinese cuisine. While in New York, I’ve also had a meal at Tangra Masala that’s owned by Tangra’s migrants to the US. In this film, I play a divorced Punjabi doctor who has become a naturalised Kolkatan. Neither will I be speaking in Bengali nor will I display any Punjabi mannerisms. This is a pan-Indian film,” says Ranvir.
Geetanjali play Tina who is half-Chinese. She shares a love-hate kind of a relationship with Ranvir’s character.
