Bandra Worli Sea Link which is a mega project of around Rs. 16 billion and has a length of 5.6 kilo meters is almost ready and will be opened to the general public in the end of this month. It will connect on the south uptown Bandra with Worli here in Mumbai, said a minister of Maharashtra. Vimal Mundada who is minister of Roadways Development Corporation for Maharashtra State said to the media that inauguration ceremony will be according to the schedule by the end of June.

He further told the media that Sonia Gandhi (Chairperson of United Progressive Alliance) will give the final approval for the inauguration and we are just waiting for that. We have already received the participation confirmations from Mr. Sharad Pawar (Agriculture Minister) and other VIP personalities in the inaugural ceremony.

He further said, Bandra Worli Sea Link has been completed in 10 years. This is an eight lane bridge which has been supported by the cable and it will be the first sea link ever opened in this country. Currently we have only one connecting link which is between northwest suburbs and island city and its name is Mahim Causeway.

An expected traffic volume in a day is around 1.4 million which is a massive traffic and peak times would be evening and morning. An official of the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation said the positive impact of the bridge is that a distance of 8 km which was completed in the past in 60 to 90 minutes now will be covered in 6 to 8 minutes.
